The Timex T70981 Youth digital watch is reliable, durable, and readable in the dark, thanks to the integrated Indiglo night-light, but it's also flat-out fun to wear. It features an easily readable digital display with large, recognizable icons for the chrono, alarm, and timer functions, and a comfortable elastic fabric strap (for better dirt and stain resistance) with blue lightning bolts against a multi-tone blue base. This watch also offers water resistance to 30 meters (99 feet), 12/24-hour time, durable blue resin case, large function buttons, and Timex's unique Kids Loss Protection Plan. It's recommended for children ages 6 and older. The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. Timex understands that kids often lose things, even their most prized possessions, which is why this watch is covered by the Timex Kids Loss Protection Plan. If the watch is lost, Timex will replace it with the same style (or similar if your style is not available) at the price of $10 for up to one year from the original date of purchase, with no questions asked. So far, so good! |
I purchased this watch for my daughter's 11th birthday after she had borrowed one of my old Timex digital watches a couple of times. The only problem with the old watch was the buckle strap; it would not tighten up snugly on her wrist and irritated her. I searched for a model with a wrap-around band and was only slightly disappointed that the one I found here on Jewelryandwatches.org (that was well-priced and in-stock) was blue and looked a little "boyish". I was not concerned about the quality since it is a Timex and for me, that says enough.
My daughter has been wearing the watch for almost a month now and just commented to me this morning how "cool" it is (she never mentioned the blue color or the lightning bolt). She uses the stopwatch and alarm features and had no problems learning to make adjustments to the settings, even without the instructions.
Highly recommend; a great 1st watch for a great price and apparently fairly androgynous. I was also delighted to see that Timex now replaces children's watches that are lost or broken for a flat fee of $10.

Comfortable digital watch |

My daughter received this watch for her 11th birthday and loves it. She has enjoyed learning all the functions, especially timing her brother and sister as they race. It's comfortable enough that she wears it all day long and even while she sleeps at night sometimes. Also, she likes that it's not foo-foo girly, but it also doesn't look like it's made just for boys. |
